Hiking Highlights 2019

Hard to believe but true: Another year is coming to an end! Personally we feel like 2019 just started but all the Christmas decorations around us tell us otherwise. Of course we can’t say goodbye to this phenomenal hiking year without recapping on the highlights! Over the past two weeks, we asked you to vote for your winners in the following categories:

So without further ado: Here are your Highlights of 2019!

1. Hike of the year: Powerscourt Waterfall

We had allot of wet hikes this year, but nothing beats water falling from a cliff!

You guys voted and our trip to Powerscout Waterfall in May made it to the top.

We are already planning many more fun hikes next year, so stay tuned for future announcements.

2. Trip of the year: Our weekend in the Scottish Highlands

This year we took the hiking family to the land of kilts and whisky. Together we spend a magical weekend in a small cabin in Glencoe and explored the Scottish Highlands (and pubs of course). Thanks to everyone who came along and made this experience so special! We are currently planning another getaway for 2020, so keep an eye out for future announcements – you don’t want to miss out!

3. Event of the Year: Valentine’s Party

We have hiked allot of scenic routes this years – some might even describe them as romantic. However, you’ve not experienced true romance if you’ve never been to our annual Valentine’s Party! Speed dating, strawberry punch, a giant heart pinata – Love was in the air. If you have great idea for future events, come join the events committee for next year!

4. Hiker of the year: Leanne O’Connell

Congratulations to our hiker of the year! With 43 attended hikes, Leanne was this year’s most committed member. This means: You win a free bottle of prosecco at our Christmas party! Let’s all get together and celebrate another great year of hiking, connecting and exploring Ireland. Make sure to sign up for the Christmas party.

Aaaaaand that’s a wrap for 2019. We can’t wait to make a tonne of new memories with this amazing club in 2020!
